As Operations Director, Alex oversees Bitterroot Foundation’s operational strategy and daily functions. With his scientific expertise in product development, GMP manufacturing, and regulations, Alex ensures that the programs, systems, and resources operate efficiently to support the nonprofit’s cell therapy vision. He is an experienced project and business manager who has successfully supported first-in-patient clinical trials and transformed ideas into platforms. Alex also oversees external communications, ensuring that partners, donors, and stakeholders stay informed and engaged.

As Development Director, Annette brings extensive experience in managing sponsored research programs and strategic partnerships across biotechnology and academic sectors. With a strong background in grant development, funding strategy, and project administration, she leads the effort to build and sustain collaborative initiatives that accelerate translational clinical impact. She also plays a key role in external communications by helping the broader community understand the importance and impact of the Bitterroot Foundation’s scientific work.

As Finance Director, Reilyn applies her extensive experience in financial management, portfolio oversight, and client relations to ensure sound fiscal stewardship and transparency. She is known for her collaborative approach and engaging communication style that supports strong connections with donors, partners, and community stakeholders. She is dedicated to stewarding Bitterroot Foundation’s resources to support sustained long-term growth and maximize impact.

Reilyn Zaro
As Executive Director, John ensures that the organization is strategically and financially sound by overseeing resources and guiding organizational priorities to advance Bitterroot Foundation’s mission. John’s involvement and initiative to help launch Bitterroot Foundation comes with over 35 years of working with and supporting the founders. He brings a depth of leadership experience from the investment sector with more than 45 years in managing complex programs and partnerships. In 1999, he founded Bourgeon Capital Management, an investment firm to provide personalized wealth management guidance to individuals, families, and foundations. Prior to Bourgeon, he had leadership roles at different investment management organizations including Warburg Pincus Asset Management, J.P. Morgan Investment Management, Morgan Stanley, Jefferies & Company, and Smith Barney. At Bitterroot Foundation, John is committed to building partnerships and working closely with donors to understand their priorities and align towards a shared vision of improving lives through regenerative therapies.
